The Temporary Project Coordinator reports to the Capital Program Engineer and is accountable for helping to ensure the delivery and completion of capital projects on time and within budget and for being responsive to requests from operations, engineering, and water quality personnel.This is achieved by efficient use of time through good organizational skills, diligent record keeping, and by resolving issues and questions during the course of a project in an expeditious manner.
Job Summary:
The Temporary Project Coordinator, serving in high level support role, is accountable for supporting the capital project team to deliver and complete capital projects on time and within budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in providing basic planning, design, analytical and engineering support.
- Coordinates construction activities including contact with contractors, field observation or construction work for compliance with contract documents.
- Obtains job numbers for projects, prepares preliminary cost estimates, distributes field checks, completes and submits permit applications, prepares the project closing packages, and cancels projects.
- Inspects work of Contractors as required.
- Prepares project status reports and project schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works under general supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience in engineering design or four years of experience in field installation of water distribution and/or supply facilities OR a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to read system maps.
- Computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, accounting systems, and databases.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Web Based Learning, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and other applicable software.
- Working Knowledge: Principles and practices of project management, safe work practices.
- Ability to: Analyze and input data on project budgets and schedules; communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, professional associates and with the general public.
Must be willing to travel as required by project needs. Travel can be up to one overnight stay per month and turnaround full-day trips, by car or by air, up to 2 days per month.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
