SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Pediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Division is in need of a full-time Patient Educator. The qualified candidate will engage with patients and families during their visit to the asthma center. This associate will educate families on the disease, the role medications play in controlling asthma, as well as the importance of addressing exposures at home. The associate will also function as a liaison between inpatient care and the Asthma Center; engaging with families during the hospital stay, scheduling of follow up appointments, reviewing basic asthma facts and appropriate medication use. This associate must possess the ability to connect with children and their caregivers. This associate will work closely with the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Respiratory Therapists. The successful candidate will provide coverage during the hours of 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM from Monday through Friday.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree Health Education, Public Health Education, or related field.
Knowledge of data systems such as EPIC, HCM, and Microsoft office products including Word and Excel.
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
