Proofreader
AOEU is seeking a skilled proofreader to edit the content that shares our story and vision, promotes our brand, and helps connect K–12 art teachers with individualized solutions. The proofreader works closely with content and product teams to edit copy for our K-12 Curriculum and K-12 Professional Development products.

Structured as a remote, full-time (30+ hours/week), benefits-eligible hourly position. This position will report to the Director of Product Management.

The Details
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Have superior proofreading skills
Understanding and apply APA formatting
Proofread text and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
Lean into good communication and interpersonal skills to take and receive feedback with tact and encouragement.
Check content for style, readability, and adherence to editorial policies.
Rewrite text as necessary to improve clarity and readability.
Partner with graphic design, content, product management, and product design.
Keep abreast of trends in content and style.
Make recommendations for updates to AOEU’s copy style guide
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to manage time and projects to ensure that deadlines are met
Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Google Suite
Familiarity with style guides
Excellent grammar and communication skills
Position Requirements
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years of related experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.
Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.

COMPENSATION
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour plus full benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience and market. We encourage you to discuss your compensation requirements early in the process.
The Process
For most roles, the process is as follows:
Step 1: ~30 minute phone interview with hiring manager
Step 2: Round 2 packet & Interview
Given that AOEU is 100% remote, this step is intended to see how you might work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges that could arise in this role. You will be given a prompt and be asked to complete an assignment which will then be used to guide a ~1 hour follow-up Zoom interview with 1-2 stakeholders. The intention is for you to get a sense of the role and give us an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy.
Step 3: Follow-up interview
For certain managerial or high-collaboration roles, you may be asked to participate in an additional Zoom interview.
