Key Responsibilities:

This position will play a crucial role in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive informed strategic decisions about United's health and wellness benefit programs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data into actionable insights and find opportunities to improve health plan design, health outcomes, affordability, and equity.

  • Analyze and interpret healthcare claims data and related data sets to identify patterns, trends, and insights from medical and pharmacy plan utilization as well as chronic condition program engagement and outcomes
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to non-technical collaborators
  • Create and implement models to evaluate the impact of health and wellness programs on at-risk populations by integrating social determinants of health and social vulnerability data with health plan metrics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions
  • Coordinate with health plan carriers and benefit program providers to assess reporting needs and facilitate changes to data files as needed
  • Manage relationship with external data warehouse vendor and collaborate with internal data warehouse team
  • Find opportunities to improve data processes and analytics capabilities and manage workflow on projects

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a data analyst, preferably in a healthcare related field
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data manipulation using tools such as SQL, PL/SQL, Python, R, Excel, or similar
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI or Spotfire
  • Familiarity with data modeling, database management, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data mining concepts
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse and data management systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills with the capacity to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with union populations and joint collective bargaining agreements
  • Experience with Merative (formerly IBM Watson) data warehouse
